about

Your favourite Latvian electronic music label - Dirty Deal Audio is at it’s fifteenth release and It’s a remix EP of the last year’s minciisha ieraksti single “3 000 000”.

For the remixes we recruited four Latvian producers with different backgrounds and styles.

First up is a dark, seven minute long house expedition from Riga’s veteran Beatmaker/producer/DJ Elvi (a.k.a. by his DJ name Elvi Soulsystems). Rythms on this piece are inspired by the compositions and handmade percussion instruments of the excentric composer Moondog, hence the title.
What’s more, this remix is made entirely out of the original ‘'3 000 000’' stems. Pads, bassline, drums - everything is made by manipulating and repurposing the original audio, everything apart that Roger Linn sample, of course.

After the long journey follows a more compact piece by a local beatmaker with probably the most easily recognizable sound - Oriole. He’s been doing his thing for a while now, and although he’s ever-evolving, always on a quest for new grooves and constantly experimenting, he somehow manages to keep everything he makes sounding Oriole. For this remix he remolds the original into lighter vibes with some occasional colder hits cutting through to form a hopeful new world where aquatic mammals can grow legs, human race can refrain from eating meat and, basically, anything can happen.

Up next is the young gun DJ W3C. He flips the original into zero compromise heavy cyber-metal apocalypse and destroys everything you love. At first we at DDA Headquarters were quite shocked by his ultra harsh, almost gabber sounding version, made out of grime music bones, sprinkled with heavy industrial influence. But soon enough we became fond of it, recognizing that, as all good art, it channels something very ‘'real’', an experience you maybe never had, but one you can still relate to and believe in being real.

The fourth remix comes from one of the smoothest DJ’s in Riga who’s been humbly and quietly honing his music production skills for a few years, keeping all his sketches to himself and hardly ever finishing anything, up until now. We suspect Seal Pup was waiting for his chance to enter the producer-scene with a bang, and we think that’s exactly what he’s about to do. His take on the 3 000 000 is a beautiful Ballroom and Grime influenced track equally suited for dancefloor use and blasting loud in your car or wherever your best speakers are. And the synth work is impeccable.
Apparently his quest was to out-produce everyone else, we think he succeeded.

The last track is the original (the very first, previously unreleased) version of 3 000 000. The one which got released as a single last year actually was, from sound engeneering point of view, a more complete and ‘'correct’' yet on the emotional level less honest version. The one featured here is the raw mix from 2013, which at that time, was too intimate to be shared. If you missed the one we released in 2014 - dirtydealaudio.bandcamp.com/album/3-000-000.
